Prime example (no pun intended) is Jeff Bezos — the city of Seattle, trying to deal with a big increase in homeless, attempted an employee head-tax. There was huge opposition from Amazon and it had to be repealed. It would have raised the modest total of $15 million a year. Bezos’ net worth increases by that every single day. Would he miss such a sum? Wouldn’t his estimation in the eyes of the public increase dramatically? Is he really worried that he won’t be able to pay his American Express bill? Rich is a morbid sickness in America because there is no such word as enough.
