30 Day Experiment: Ketogenic Diet
Spencer Cornelia

Often the “keto flu” is due to a lack of dietary sodium. Although I had read Jeff Volek and Stephen Phinney’s book “The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living” in which they recommend three to five grams of sodium per day (preferably in a home made bone broth), I initially neglected to follow that advice and I subsequently paid for my ignorance with strange muscle aches while running and a face plant (see syncope) one morning while getting out of bed. Currently in my 27th month of a ketogenic diet, I have become diligent about eating three to five grams of sodium per day and have not experienced any more “keto flu”.
