Slammed
I dared call friend
I dared call brother
Once thought my ally now the coward
And the scoundrel
In the company of which I will not stand.
Aware of his actions he led me down this avenue,
Into the turmoil that now fills my mind.
I have been darker
But now he pushes me out to the precipice
Of a dark and leering
Cliff of insanity.
The future,
That becomes so many people’s past,
Seems undaunting in a world of normalcy.
That education,
An old friend
Who used to be fun and about the world around,
Is now reduced to an impersonal series
Of numbers and letters,
Bubbles and check marks,
That hold out their hand
And own my future.
