How to Write and Publish a Scientific Paper
I took the course “How to Write and Publish a Scientific Paper” on Coursera (https://www.coursera.org/learn/how-to-write-a-scientific-paper). The course has enriching material for PhD students who are writing (or going to write) academic papers. It is given by PhD candidates who have been through the struggle of writing papers, and is led by Mathis Plapp — an assistant professor.
The main aim of the course is to teach you how to go through your paper, from the very first step where you ask yourself whether the paper you are going to write has a real contribution in your field, and then it take you, step by step until you paper is written, and the reviewed by someone in your network before being submitted.
At the end of the course, you will be asked to build a checklist standardized for any paper topic, in which you follow up your article to make sure you have covered all the requirements that make the paper ready for submission.
In the following link I share the checklist I have prepared, https://github.com/gtannous/AcademicPaperChecklist — and I think that this course is rich and beneficial for anyone who’s going to be exposed to academic writing especially that PhD candidates are most probably required to publish the finidings of their research.
