Interesting essay — thought-provoking stuff! I’m not sure there is a perfect analogue between money and sex, as the point about money’s transformation into capital in Vol I is that it is possible for the capitalist to accumulate money (which you can’t really do with sex, since I *think* the status gains among PUAs don’t really produce additional status as in the M-C-M circuit?)… Still, understand that it’s a short essay (which I only stumbled across by looking at the Marxism tag on Medium) and that’s not really the focus. Don’t know if useful but more than Marx, it reminded me a bit of Firestone’s analysis in The Dialectic of Sex, where she moves from the power relations in the family to an explanation of the power dynamics behind heterosexual sex and arrives at a not-dissimilar conclusion, although instead of intra-male status gains, sex is about men reproducing power over women through the necessity of female reproductive labour…
Also, skimming the comments I realise this is coming at it from a different perspective — sympathetic to Marxism and want to hear more about the theory you’re developing!
