Avengers Endgame- The End of an Era

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is by far one of the most long-running and diverse franchises in the history of comics and movies. The comics might really catch the eye of the reader (mostly kids) however the movies, on the other hand, are loved by almost every kid/adult of this generation (me being one of them). Its exceptional writing, storytelling and the individual character developments make it even more spectacular for the viewers, and a few days ago a part of it ended and with that the childhood of many kids stanning for the Avengers. This blog highlights all the blood and sweat shed by the many actors and actresses to make this rollercoaster ride possible and on top of all that stands one man, the one and only ~ StanLee. He is the reason why this idea or these 11 years blossomed into a breathtaking experience of the sci-fi/fantasy universe.

The Men Who Made it Possible!

A few days ago the globally renowned and the most awaited movie of all time Avengers Endgame rolled on the big screen all around the world leaving people all jittery and teary-eyed at the end of it. This movie has already crossed a 1.2 billion dollar mark and that too in such a short time-span. As a matter of fact, there is no argument that this movie by far is Marvel’s greatest masterpiece and cinema’s greatest epitome of success. Now there are a lot of people responsible for this worldwide attraction and above all the man who wrote the comics/franchise ~ StanLee. Although he might not have been with us today, he is definitely proud of all of the cast and the movie itself and above all, himself. The directors of Avengers Endgame are the Russo brothers — Anthony and Joe Russo and they are the reason why this movie never saw any downfall.

Spoiler Alert!

I am not going to bore you by explaining the success and struggle of all those 11 years that made this possible because I am sure there are a bunch load of people reading his blog, who knows it better than I do, instead I would shower my thoughts only on the movie that ended it all ~ Avengers Endgame. This might as well be a spoiler review so if you haven’t seen the movie stop reading this right now!

Record Breaking Title

Avengers Endgame is the sequel to Avengers Infinity War which also swept a billion dollar mark on its release rivaling any other superhero movie ever made. People were hyped and thrilled to watch it even if it showed nemesis of half of the universe and the stupendous and grooving plot setting for Endgame.

All in all, Endgame is a movie of two halves. The first half of the movie mesmerizes parts of the aftermath of events taking place in Infinity War and the plot setting for the final war in the movie, which was regarded as longest running action sequence than in any other action movies beating even the LOTR battle of helms deep. This record was however broken on 28 thApril 2019 the very next day by the battle of Winterfell in the game of thrones.

Endgame in a Nutshell

Tony being adrift in space after the foul fiasco of the mad Titan ‘Thanos’ (the supervillain of the series) in his planet titan was rendered with some final ounces of oxygen left in his spaceship with his crewmate Nebula (Thanos’s Daughter) when out of the blue a strange glowing superficial being which turns out to be Captain Marvel puts them out of their misery by rescuing them, back to Earth. Tony and Steve come face to face the first time since the belligerent events that took place in the movie ‘Captain America: Civil War’. Their conversation which we all felt would be heartwarming turned out to be a major outburst of anger and guilt for their incapability for saving half of the universe.

Setting Aside their Differences

Tony, as a result, gives up and leaves the alliance and starts a peaceful life somewhere upstate with his wife Pepper Potts. They even have a daughter called Morgan Stark. The events then take place after a 5-year time-skip when Antman returns from the Quantum realm and is bedazzled to hear about his own death and several others in the real world. He then visits the current Avengers facility where Agent Romanoff (Black Widow) and Captain America were living as normal humans. After suggesting them to go back in time by Scott Lang (Antman), the crew confronts someone who actually knows the laws of the quantum realm, Ironman. He, however, turns them away by saying that it is practically impossible to time travel and then come back again to the real world. Out of potions, the crew confronts Dr. Bruce Banner (the Hulk) who had somehow managed to merge the two bodies living inside of him i.e., Banner’s mind and the Hulk’s body. He agrees to help them unravel the mystery of the quantum tunnel. It is not long that by solving it even Tony joins the fray.

The Grand Finale

They go back in the past to gather all the six infinity stones and reverse the snap that Thanos did in Infinity War. The Thanos of this timeline hears about this conspiracy and destroys the Avengers facility just after Hulk wield the gauntlet to bring everybody back. A 3 vs 1 battle begins between Thanos vs Iron man, Captain America, and Thor wherein, Captain wields the Mjolnir for the first time deeming himself worthy to rule over Asgard. He decimates Thanos and just before he was about to deliver his final blow Thanos calls his army right away to attack them. But then the metaphysical warps are formed in the sky which were created by Dr. Strange to bring all the Avengers together and hence an all-out begins. After getting pushed back to the point of no return when Thanos is almost about to wield the gauntlet again, Strange signals Tony about that 1 win in the 14,000,605 timelines where he wields the infinity gauntlet and obliterates the Thanos army and dies himself within this process.

The world is shaken to hear about Tony’s death and all of the Avengers are shaken to their core when they bid their last farewell to him.

Final Take Away

Iron man was a person who was exceptional in being a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist and his downfall saw the end of an era. An era in which I was proud to live. An era where I saw the great Robert Downey Jr portray this amazing personality which couldn’t have been portrayed any better by any other person. As hard as it seems to me, I just want to see him eating donuts on the top of that gas station (as he did in the movie Ironman) because his demise marks the end of my childhood which was short but graciously lived. I remember walking out of that theater and realizing that I would never ever see him goof around with other Avengers and have some shawarma. Thank you, Ironman, for making my childhood awesome. I love you ‘3000’.
