How to meditate — Pema Chodron
This was an easy read and gave me the basics of meditation. The 6 things to be conscious about when preparing to meditate are:
Seat — make sure that you are sitting in a comfortable position (lotus position or against the wall or in a chair or on a pillow — whichever works for you)
Hands — keep your hands with palms facing down
Torso — imagine a rope hanging from the top of your head down your spine
Eyes — keep your eyes open. You can concentrate on something closer to you or something a bit far away
Face — you can lift your chin up
Legs — Keep them in a comfortable position
Before sitting down for meditation, it would be best to do a quick check-in on how your mood is, what is on your mind and be conscious of your physical state.
After the check in is complete, start meditation.
