First things first: we are going through a crisis that needs to be taken seriously.

Over the next weeks and months, the world is going to stand still. And we have to: staying at home is necessary in order to not spread the coronavirus. We encourage everyone to do so.

For the last year, I’ve been working with NomadX to promote remote work and healthy nomadic lifestyles. We knew that the world can be remote, and now it has to.

The question that we have to ask ourselves now is not whether quarantine and remote work are necessary. The question is how we react to that situation.

It is our mission to connect remote workers across the global and promote a healthy, remote lifestyle. This has taken new proportions since the epidemic: people are forced to be at home, people are forced to figure out their lifestyle, and people are forced to work remotely.

What defines us is the positive impact we want to have on other people’s lives and we are here to support and to make the best out of those dark times.

This is why we are launching the first out of several initiatives that will all be remote: the Virtual eXstatic Dance.

Why? Because we couldn’t think of a better way to connect the world and show that optimism and human connection are possible in challenging times.

AND, thanks to this event we will encourage donations to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund that supports all the World Health Organization’s global efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

This upcoming Friday, 20th of March, 20 DJs from around the world — Canada, France, Spain, Indonesia, United States, Russia — are going to perform a 24-hour live set.

What this Event Means to Us

The Virtual Exstatic Dace (#VED) is the first virtual dance party in which all participants connect via video. Our goal is three-fold:

  1. To create a platform for Artists whose event had to be canceled, and who might be quarantined themselves, to connect to their audience and share their gifts.
  2. To show that it is possible to Handle this Situation with sincerity without losing the Essence of what makes us Human.
  3. And to allow Remote Workers and anyone on this earth to Connect visually, musically, through dance.

The #VED event is for us a way to show how to turn a situation around: the give hope, to support artists, and to support us, humans, remote workers, from around the globe.

Why eXstatic Dance?

Whether you are new or experienced in this new era of the dancing environment, join the growing ecstatic dance movement.

Ecstatic dance is a form of dance in which you freely move and abandon yourself to the rhythm, without the need to take any drug or drink. You dance with your whole body, stretching, jumping, spinning and letting out whatever wants to come out.

The original concept of ecstatic dancing is when people united around a set of music, usually a 2-hour DJ set, and dance under certain principles.

Those principles are:

  1. It’s a no-drug event: the goal is to promote being in our bodies and expressing ourselves in our natural state.
  2. It’s a no-talking event: the goal is to have an individual experience. The same applies to our virtual exstatic dance, in which participants will see each other but will remain muted.
  3. It’s a non-judgmental event: the goal is that we accept each other as we are. No judgment should be made on the way we dance, move, or simply are doing this time. It’s a call for radical acceptance of being.

And all of that with the final objective to allow to express whatever wants to come out. We are human beings and have the right to be connected to ourselves, to our bodies, and to our emotions. We should have the right to express ourselves in respectful manners, to explore the boundaries of our bodies and of our own beings.

The exstatic dance is meant to be authentically ourselves. And now, we are taking the concept virtually.

Join us on Friday

The Virtual Exstatic Dance (#VED) a way to show that we can be united, with ourselves and others, even when confined to our homes, disconnected in a world that allows us to connect.

This is also the opportunity to connect with others we don’t know yet: to cross our own boundaries, to overcome our cultural differences, and to connect on our fundamental similarity that we are all one mankind.

This Friday’s #VED event is just the first edition of many and we expect this movement just to grow. If you want to participate or support the initiative, please contact us directly.

And for anyone who hasn’t yet: register on the event page at www.exstaticdance.com and share it with your friends.

The world can be united. Let’s show how.

Yours truly,

Gui & the NomadX team
