Great insight Yves Cavarec.

1. In finding the right people, conversations are the starting point. It could be in the form of an interview or a casual encounter. As the seeker, how do we spot the indicators for self management readiness or inclination. What types of previous behaviour and experience serve as signals? And what questions lead to illuminating answers regarding these?

2. I agree that interviews are not sufficient to confirm readiness or inclination to self management. Doing the work is a good test. This is how I hire for the past 6 years, I first engage a candidate before making a full offer. In building SMOS, giving a 1 week project could be part of the qualifying process. That project could be designed to enable the candidate to demonstrate self managing behaviour.
