There was a time when I had a similar outlook for these fads, with time it has softened. When I got married in 2011, the first in my batch, these pre wedding shoots hadn’t picked up by then, neither we had the money to splurge. Come 2015 when I got pregnant, photo shoots were everywhere at every occasion. By god’s grace my pregnancy was by far the most beautiful time in my life, I never looked so happy and glowy, my hair looked perfect(which otherwise keep on falling) , overall I was in the best of my shape physically and mentally. I thought to have some fun , went for a weekend outing and created a DIY photoshoot with my husband. Not only it turned out well because ofcourse the takes and retakes, the poses and the props were funny but also because me and my husband were involved in it from our heart and soul, the memories we created are worth cherishing every bit. And we also have a story to tell our boy when he grows up of how mummy and daddy had fun before his arrival. I would like to see his reaction when someday he will look at those pictures.
In the end , I feel if you are happy doing it and if it helps create a bond between two people, every memory is worth holding onto! Changing clothes and in a studio, still cliched though ☺
In 2 years I have taken so many good shots of my son with me and his father, I don’t think we will ever need a professional photographer! I might go on to do his wedding photography as well, if at all he does that ;)
