Carnivorous Japanese Women: Dinosaur Hunt for Men

Have you heard of the terms “herbivorous men” (草食男子) or “carnivorous women” (肉食女子) before? The answer would likely be no. In recent years, these terms have been used to refer to the nature of Japanese men and women in their 20s.

While “herbivorous” refers to the Japanese man’s passive attitude when it comes to love and romance, “carnivorous” refers to the woman’s pro-active nature towards forming sexual relationships with these men.

Why Hunt a Herbivorous Man?

ccording to research done by Partner Agent, a Japanese marriage support agency, 61% of men in their 20s refer to themselves as “herbivorous” (sample size: 400 people).

But why would a woman want to marry this type of guy in the first place? To this question, 32% of women answered that “I don’t have to worry about him cheating on me”, and another 21% say that “it seems like the relationship will be easy to manage”. Other answers include: “I’m not good with strong men” (16%), and “he will do household chores for me” (10%).

In Japan, women have become the hunters, and men the hunted. In this article, by comparing hunters to dinosaurs, I will address the different types of women that go on the prowl for the ideal herbivorous man (or men!).

The Hunters

1. The “First Train” Woman (T-Rex)

If you fall in love with her, it’s over.

This type of woman is only in it for sexual action. She finds the process of dating itself boring and troublesome, and only agrees to meet up late at night; in order to make love. She would then take the first train back home in the morning.

The T-Rex has excellent night-vision, suited for taking action during the night; much like this type of female predator.

2. The Plated Lady (Ankylosaurus)

There is no future with this lady.

Heavily armored, she is the opposite of the First Train Woman. The Plated Lady enjoys dating multiple guys at once but does not take part in sexual activities, always backing out before making that final step. These ladies tend to be hardworking, and wear formal clothing such as white shirts, dark suits, and black shoes.

In a way similar to the Ankylosaurus, the Plated Lady wears heavy iron armor around her heart.

The scary thing about this type of women is that they enjoy experimenting with different guys without thinking about a future with them. This means that even if you try your best in a relationship with her, it is likely she will back-out at the last, leaving you heart-broken!
