Where to read newspaper comics online

We’re in the 2020s, and you can now read decades’ worth of newspaper comics online on your phone or computer for free or close to free. And yes, it’s legal!

The newspaper comic strip is a great art form that I think doesn’t get enough attention. Everyone knows that newspaper comics exist, but they’re kind of ignored, and maybe even stigmatized against. And that’s understandable if all you need is the day’s news, but I think those little comics have a lot of heart. In the early 1900s, an individual comic strip would take up a full newspaper page. Pretty cool, I think.

Some of the classic series’ have ended, like Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes. Series’ like The Farside that are still going are still entertaining, but what if you want to revisit something older? How do you read them now?

Often times entire news comic strips have been published to a legal ad-based website for all to read, sometimes without you even needing to pay anything at all. GoComics is an example of a totally free website with many thousands of daily cartoons. The Peanuts page goes back many decades all the way to the strip’s origin. All you need is a phone or computer with an internet connection.

Here are the websites:
