Someday you might decide to study something before you write about it. In a population of around 8 million, 2 million emigrated and another million died. That makes the depopulation of Ireland among the worst in European history.
The same happened to Sweden, without as bad a famine. With a population of around 4.5 million, over 1 million, almost a quarter of the country, left- many of them young and enterprising. Today Sweden is one of the most prosperous places on the globe.
To compare- Syria has a population of about 21 million. 4.1 million have fled the country as refugees. The percentages are very similar. http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/11/world/syria-refugee-crisis-when-war-displaces-half-a-country/index.html
You combine ignorance with heartlessness.
