Battles are getting livelier and livelier!
In recent weeks, we have focused on improving the combat system, implementing the ability for Gushi to “push” opponents. Specifically, when a Gushi hits another Gushi, the poor victim will suffer a back push that will cause it to slide a few squares. During its movement, it may even bump into other Gushi (allied or not) who will in turn suffer the effect of the push, causing a ripple effect that could generate unpredictable results for players.
The direction in which the affected Gushi will slide is unpredictable, and they will only be able to stop their motion by bumping into an obstacle or by reaching the edge of the arena.
Moreover, we fixed some annoying bugs that affected the movement of Gushi. Previously, it could happen that the attacking Gushi would move incorrectly to a corner of the map during its movement action. After a long effort to find the errors, we were able to fix this problem. The movement will still have to undergo some improvements, but for the time being we feel that the function is progressing in the right direction.
Another bug we had to fix was related to the synchronization of some sprites. In fact, sprites of Mouldon plants (the particular plant that grows only in Dracactus lands) sometimes appeared in the wrong map. We have now corrected the error, and each sprite shows up in the right place.
Launch of the new workspace and cross-platform
Keeping the workspace tidy has always been a key element of good production. That is why in recent weeks we did a complete reorganization of the digital workspace. We removed old assets and implemented small improvements in the client and server task management process.
This allowed us to optimize the work of the following days, eliminating some unnecessary waste of time that would have slowed down the work.
Also thanks to this new, more uncluttered environment, we were able to release a new build for iOS as well, finally making cross-platform testing possible. We also performed various tests to make sure that the new version was stable on multiple devices, and so far we are pleased with the positive feedback we have received from testers.
New markers for in-game Gushi
In addition to the numerous changes and implementations on a more technical level, we have devoted ourselves to a dutiful graphical improvement whose importance was already evident from the very first playable version of Gushi Force: markers for the Gushi in game. They will be essential for differentiating the Gushi belonging to the two teams, so that players can distinguish their allies at a glance. Moreover, these markers will also allow a better recognition of the selected tile. This simple but important new feature will help players maintain a clearer view of the game, aiding strategy building and making it easier to follow the movements of the Gushi.
To keep the screen as neat as possible, we have also decided that these markers will not be constantly visible but will appear only when necessary. This will allow you to better focus on the action without losing sight of the elements that will comprise the game — and your strategy!
