9. Work the tables — When I eat out it is more than the food I want to enjoy, it is the atmosphere and service I get. Most chefs love to show off their various creations, but rarely do they attend to the people who eat them. I am not suggesting that the chef spend a lot of time with me, but a sincere “how is your food” now and then can do wonders for repeat business. In fact it may even compensate for any other reasons I may have not want to come back.
