I like your ideas better than my own, but I have to say, if you’re going to pine for colonialism, French colonialism is the way to go, isn’t it? I put on my white linen suit, slice the bread, overlook the Vietnamese coffee plantation and wonder why my older brother got the land in Tahiti. I imagine him living in a Gaugin painting, which angers me, so I yell at my pet baby elephant. Nice, huh?
