Most MRA, Gamergate, “can’t stop talking about Feminism” trolls are 16–27 year-old boys who are sexually stranded. I’m not saying that to make fun of the fact that they haven’t had sex. I’m saying it because they are young men, polluted by the internet, raised in a sex soaked culture, and they have no chance of having sex… with anyone. Some of them may become wizards. They can be from virtually any country, since sexism is so wonderfully universal and English so ubiquitous, so you have to think, “Am I arguing with a 17 year old from South Korea, Scotland, Australia, Japan, Russia, Germany, South Africa, or Mexico?” You might wonder why such kids would bother us here at Medium, and the answer is that they sally forth from the deep internet for lulz.
