Jennifer Brown,

Thank you for falling into the trap of letting me tell my EXTENDED VERSION of the Tim Kaine story. See, I offered to tell it back here, but nobody took the bait! I have been sitting on that chestnut for almost a week! It’s been killing me. I picked a good time to bust it out though, huh? That seemed kind of organic, didn’t it? You know how many sock puppets you have to keep running in order to set things up like that? A lot. The answer is: a lot.

When he was announced as the vice presidential pick I started Googling him. The truth is, I had heard of Tim Kaine before and the association did not kick in. I lived in VA for six years, so I wondered where he went to school, etc. I read somewhere that he had worked with the homeless in Richmond, so I did some more digging and thought “I think I know this guy.” Then I did a Google image search and came up with this photo from a Richmond-Times Dispatch slideshow:

And I KNOW THAT GUY, or knew him… kinda. Really the only memory I have is getting slapped down by him in the story that I already told. Other than that he was really nice, really smart, and deeply committed to an organization that did really good work.

As for his looks…. pffft…. he was young. Everyone was good looking when they were that young. In fact, I THINK I WAS BETTER LOOKING THAN TIM KAINE.

Verdict on Kaine: Nice guy. Smart. Genuinely committed. Gave Gutbloom a much needed brushback.

Who’s next?

Steve Colbert or This Guy
