Your post is also helpful because it reminds me that if you want to chart the timeline of change in America, Supreme Court decisions are like carbon 14 dating. Griswold v. Connecticut was in 1965! Holy shit.
“In the 1986 case, Bowers v. Hardwick”… I have to remember that 1986 was thirty years ago. When I get morose about how things never change, I will try to revisit this post. I was just reminded yesterday that Lemon vs. Kurtzman, the decision that put a stake in the heart of school prayer, was in 1971.
