It takes some serious white privilege to even consider cultural appropriation of this magnitude. From the comments I’ve read, Nathan does not have an understanding of his unearned white privilege which led to him deciding to use (and abuse) the word and culture behind the word Seva. He has already proven to be dismissive and entitled out of sheer ignorance which is my way of saying, you knew what you were doing and what you were stealing but you did it anyway. ‘Open dialogue’ is code for ‘I now need to defend myself, a white man against a woman of colour who is calling me out. Let me see if I can placate and persuade you that I’m entitled to use the word because my intentions were good and innocent’. Bullshit. We can see it quite clearly Nathan. Change the fucking name.
