Great article, Quincy, and I think you strike just the right note: the job destruction that the AI / Automation wave will cause is something we should all be talking and thinking about… young or old, rich or poor, left or right. Specifics of solutions are things to be worked out in the political process later; to begin with we need to drive awareness that there is a huge problem bearing down upon us.

However, if you look in the comments here, and as you find when you talk to people in the (ahem) real world about this, there are many arguments made that the job destruction you describe above either won’t happen, or won’t be as bad as you say.
