All depends what you mean by “interview”. Sometimes it makes perfect sense to have a preliminary get-to-know-each-other meeting at a coffee shop or some other venue besides the office. Hell, Steve Jobs would take people on walks. Great idea, I think. Hiring the right person is so important, I think it makes sense to meet a few times in a number of different settings. And, seeing how someone interacts with baristas, wait staff, minor inconveniences, etc. shows a lot about a person, things that don’t jump out from resumes or scripted interview questions.
