From Idea to Venture Creation, GW Fast Tracks Innovation on April 20 With $300K in Funding and Support

Twelve final teams will take the stage to pitch their business model in three tracks: social, tech, and new venture entrepreneurship

George Washington University’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (GW) host its ninth annual New Venture Competition Finals on Thursday, April 20, from 5:30 to 8:30PM at the Jack Morton Auditorium (805 21st Street, NW).

2016 GW New Venture Competition Winners and Finalists

Beginning with 116 team applications with ideas ranging in social entrepreneurship, innovation in technology, and new venture creation, GW mentors and leadership have spent the past three months selecting 36 semi-finalists based on marketplace viability of each idea. Twelve finalists will be selected to pitch during the final rounds.

Last year’s winner, Homegrown Farms, innovated indoor farming with the use of shipping containers. Washington, DC-based companies that got their start at the GW New Venture Competition include Social Driver, Capital Kombucha, The Rival, and Quorum.

Virginia Senator Mark R. Warner (D-VA) will deliver the keynote address. Additional speakers include Parth Chauhan, CEO, Homegrown Farms, and recipients of the GW 2017 Distinguished Entrepreneurial Achievement Award Vicki and Karl Gumtow, founders, CyberPoint.
