“One of the commentors at the end of the article makes a valid point about the media: If a moderate Republican retires, the media portrays it as something akin to the extinction of lions. If a moderate Dem bails, it’s not noteworthy at all.”

The comment: (2) Will the media wring its hands over the rapid extinction of moderate Democrats the way they do about Republicans?

There were upwards of 120 news articles on the announcement. But facts don’t matter when the subject is ideology, and not news. Ideology dictates how the media should react, or, how they must be represented as reacting. So why check?
