Silicon Valley arrogance: “I can tell you which startups will succeed, without even knowing what…

I’m a believer in remote work, but I know enough about it to know that it’s a learned skill which takes practice. Also not every developer who attempts to succeed at remote work will do so within a reasonable timeframe. For some people it’s a deep psycho-social process that involves not only changing your daily habits, but also involves educating family members and friends.

In the startup world we can afford to filter for candidates who are already showing proficiency with remote work, but an entity like Yahoo! may shoot itself in the foot if it starts allowing it’s remote-newbie workforce to start experimenting willy nilly. I can understand why she needed to make that decision as CEO at Yahoo!, but this recent quote sounds outrageous and almost like it was designed to be over the top.
