Sandbags have been used by platoons in the Military for decades to build functional strength. Some of the best exercises you can use with a sandbag are squats, cleans and presses.

We hit the beach to give you a workout you can do with your training buddy or buddies.

What you’ll need:

  1. A Sandbag (obviously).
  2. A kick-ass workout partner(s).
  3. A pre-workout. No seriously, you’ll need the energy.

The Sandancer

10-Minute Circuit

  • Lay out two place markers: one for the start and the other 25-meters away (for the 50–meter sprint exercise).
  • While one partner is doing the sprints, the other should be at the “start” place marker doing the sandbag exercise.
  1. Cleans
  2. Clean & Press
  3. Squat, Clean & Press

You may want to both perform a couple of reps of each exercise to warm-up, as well as get a feel for movement the sandbag.

Aim for speed, but don’t sacrifice your form.

CHALLENGE: Do the whole circuit 3 times. Only rest 30 seconds after each round of the whole circuit is complete.
