Wood, bamboo or timber laminated floors
The trick with these kinds floors is to use minimal water and have the room well ventilated so it will dry as fast as possible once done. Other than this, there is nothing special about cleaning these floors.
- Hot water in a bucket
- 1/3 cup Castile soap
- 5 drops essential oils (your choice)
- For stains or minor scuff marks: 50/50 vinegar and olive oil
It is a good idea to use either a static mop or vacuum the floor before your start. This will collect lots of bits that could scratch the floor.
Once done, fill up a bucket with hot water add Castile soap and your choice of essential oil. The smell from the oils will fill the room as your clean. Use a mop that can squeeze most of the water out, leaving it just damp but still hot. Now you can start to work over the floor. Once done, let it dry. If you can find a wide-head mop you will save lots of time.
If you have some stains or scuff marks on the floor, this is a neat trick: use a glass or plastic spray bottle, add vinegar and olive oil, then shake well. Spray onto the mark and rub with a microfibre cloth. If it is a light stain or scratch, you should be able to polish this out.
