She is amazing! Definitely not built in the 30’s. My house was built in 1930 and I have enjoyed researching the time period for it. Fireplaces would not have been built. They preferred coal furnaces for their cleanliness, lol. And bathrooms were built in. But it was normal to only have one and with a tub. Ours was built under where the roof angles down so you can’t even have a shower in it. Someone later turned the kitchen pantry into a tiny bathroom with a standing shower. Architectural details were simpler and refined. The details on the staircase are not the right style for the 30’s. We have arched doorways and lovely small accent windows. Our staircase is much simpler. You are so right about the carriage house. We have an original detached garage that a car will fit in. It is only a single stall and is a bit small for today’s cars but clearly was meant for them not carriages. The basement is the most telling with the coal shute (sp?) still there. Old houses are so much fun! I hope you can get her and enjoy getting to know her.
