The E-Bike Sceptic
Mikael Colville-Andersen

I own a pedelec (assistance up to 25 km/h), an e-bike (assistance up to 45 km/h) and a standard bike. From my experience the standard bike and the pedelec have similar use-cases and can be allowed on the same infrastructure, as long as the pedelec-drivers behave politely. Most of them do, because they don’t mind stopping for other people, because it is easy for them to accelerate again.

However, the fast e-bike is complete different mode of transport. In the speed range 30–40 km/h it belongs on the car lane. It is as useful as fun there. Cars should be limited to the same speed range. This will make the urban traffic more human altogether.
