Expocuba, the great fair space in Havana, Cuba

25 kilometers southeast of Havana, specifically at kilometer 3 and a half of the Rocio Road, in Arroyo Naranjo municipality, Expocuba is located.
Its creation was the invention of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz and it was founded in January 4, 1989, to mark the 30th anniversary of triumph of The Cuban Revolution. This installation serves as a Permanent Exhibition of the Republic of Cuba. But in Expocuba there are many other attractions that invitees can discover.
Meet Cuba in Expocuba

This installation offers the possibility, to Cubans and foreigners, to contact the sociocultural, economic, political and scientific — technical events of the “Pearl of the Antilles”. There, the main achievements are exposed in such important areas as sports, education, health, tourism and construction.
It is a very popular place, among other things, for the large space that it occupies: 600,000 square meters. Of them, a total of 25 thousand square meters are part of the exhibition area, while the rest are land with rich vegetation, in a connection with a rural area, free of environmental pollution.

His slogan: “In Expocuba, we help you discover Cuba”, is known all around the island. The local communication media echo the same slogan, but, saying the reality, not only the capitalists attend this great fair. Residents of all Cuban provinces, and from numerous countries, meet in Expocuba, in its Central Pavilion and in the remaining 25, this island is shown in all its exponents.
This expo place is characterized by the existence of a permanent exhibition on the work in all the sectors of the economy and the social life of the Cubans. It is added that each province has one week a year to expose its results in same areas. This occasion is used by many to get closer to the interiors of the country that are not always known.

A particularity of this fair is that, in many of its pavilions, some of the products on display are also sold to public who visit the place. But, it has another added value: in Expocuba are presented various children’s shows, musicals with important groups, cafeterias, amusement park and restaurants.

In its exteriors, an amusement park awaits for the youngest family members. Boat trips on an artificial lake and bicycles are very popular options for visitors.

In this sense, the restaurant Don Cuba stands out for its elegance and refined dishes. But others enjoy great demand and peculiar location: inside a train, an airplane, over the lake, just to mention some examples that may be attractive and different.

Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the place from a bar — lookout with rotating system, which is accessed through an elevator. Exquisite drinks, juices and refreshments await you there. An opportunity to relax, for a few moments, from the busy fair.
The green areas, under the shade of the trees, shelter families who, for a few moments, decide to take a break before continuing the tour through Expocuba.
International Fair of Havana

Undoubtedly, Feria Internacional de la Habana, FIHAV, (Havana’s International Fair) becomes the most important event of the exhibition site. It is consolidated as the main commercial exchange of Cuba and the Caribbean, and even, one of the most representative in Latin America.
Each November, Havana hosts numerous countries that travel to explore business opportunities on the island. For a week, it seeks to contribute to the promotion of national exports and attract foreign capital to Cuba so that it can invest. At the same time, it insists on expanding and diversifying the international economic relations of the Caribbean island.

FIHAV is a business party where Expocuba offers most varied recreational and cultural distraction, typical of the great Cuban exhibiting center.
Very close to Expocuba
Another Expocuba feature is the proximity to centres of recreational and tourist interest. Opposite the installation is the National Botanical Garden, owner of a large collection of living plants, classified and scientifically ordered.

One of its attractions is the Japanese Garden, considered, according to specialists, an emblematic exponent of one of the most renowned historical styles of gardening worldwide.
Nearby there is Parque Lenin (Lenin Park) and Zoologico Nacional (National Zoo), places that visitors can enjoy at the end of Expocuba visit, or take them into account for an upcoming excursion to recreational sites in Havana.
