Mental Health and Super Bowl — Are YOU ready for some football?

Super Bowl Sunday is a tradition lots of people look forward to every year.

It’s the culmination of the season’s football champions coming together for the final battle.

The legendary commercials and the half time show can entice even the most sports challenged anti-fan — like me.

But social events like the Superbowl can trigger many emotions for those who manage a mental illness.

There was an episode of Sex and the City (S2E13) where Samantha is dating a sports addict.

He wouldn’t have sex with her unless his team won. Once she realized that this could go on for every different type of sports season, she basically said kick rocks.

The fact is, Superbowl super charges addictions like sex, gambling, and alcohol which can exacerbate an already diagnosed mental illness.
