Design Thinking Exercise Prototype

In this exercise I have to practice my prototyping technique and my getting to know the customer.

Hopefully this will help me see my mistakes in the future and improve for real customers.

Client: Whole Bank

History of the Client: Whole Bank started operations in Framingham, a small town in Massachusetts, United States. Their goal was to offer a different way to save and manage money by giving customers innovative options such as virtual currencies.

Clients to help: Clients of #WholeBank who already know how to use the #WholeBankApp in their phone and travel often.

I had to interview a couple of people I knew to learn about their needs when they had to pay at stores, when they are traveling.

This are the questions I asked.

Introduction: Hello my name is Lulu and I work for Whole Bank, and we are trying to figure out how to make it easier to pay when you are traveling, so if it is ok, i would like to know about your paying methods.

  1. How often do you travel?
  2. When you go to the store, how do you usually pay?
  3. Are you comfortable using the ATMs at foreign countries?
  4. Are you comfortable using your debit/credit card at stores?
  5. Have you lost your debit/credit card on your trips?

In my interviews, i found out that:

  • 5/5 travel at least 5 times a year for work
  • 5/5 usually pay with debit/credit cards.
  • 3/5 are not comfortable using ATMs when they are traveling.
  • 3/5 are not that comfortable using their debit/credit cards, because they had have charges that they no recognize.
  • 4/5 have lost their debit/credit card when they are traveling.

Solving the problem.

The customers log in to the bank’s app. Then select the button of payment, and the app can help them make a transaction or pay by a barcode.

This helped me getting to know the customer, and using the application they alredady know to make safe payments, without compromising their debit/credit cards.
