EGO
Ego is the most dangerous when we’re confronted with something new.
“Often, fear of the unknown can fuel the ego — causing us to quit before we’ve even begun.” — Patrick Neve
I’ve invested weeks in researching the entire book-writing process. It’s terrifying! I was never passionate about writing or literature. I didn’t even read my first book until I was in my 30s! My grammar, punctuation, and vocab are by no means impressive. I just learned what a “thesis” is. It’s humbling stuff, but exciting as h*ll! It’s coming together, one piece at a time.
But I have a profound desire to share my story and to make a difference; no matter how small.
This is the point in which I’ve quit many pursuits before. The point where I feel like a student in every sense of the word.
Quitting isn’t an option this time.
Do you want to know why this challenge is different than past challenges? It’s because I’ve attached something of value to it that’s greater than myself. I’m writing this book for my son. This approach has fortified me with the courage I need to push forward. It gives me a sense of purpose.
So, drop the ego, let go of the fear, and just DO. Keep moving. And maintain a positive and almost childlike spirit with what you’re learning.
