5 Ways to Be Happier This Spring

1. Simply release negative thoughts from your mind.

This one may sound simple. But beware! It does take some practice. What you should start doing now is take time out of your day to think of things that make you happy. Focus on the good things all the time! It will be hard at first considering there a lot of jerks out there! But the good news. If you start doing these things on purpose eventually your subconscious mind will do it naturally.

2. Don’t dwell on the little things.

Please promise me you if you choose to do any of these, it will be this one! We let things like a stubbed toe, or a small coffee stain on your shirt ruin the entire day! I mean yes, a coffee stain does suck. But should it ruin the whole day? No! This spring don’t take life so serious. I am not saying quit your job, and forget responsibilities. Simply stop dwelling on things that most likely wont even matter tomorrow. Things you will probably forget about within the next hour. If you do this one, I promise you will instantly become a happier person. All it takes is deciding!

3. Start a meditation ritual.

Okay, hear me out. I have talked to people about this in person 97% of them think this is super weird. But seriously, meditation is an amazing way to clear your mind. Don’t get the notion that meditating is a super ritual, zen life thing! Try out some guided mediation on YouTube! Its pleasant, easy, and fun. But seriously all you need is 5 minutes of meditation a day! Soon you’ll be doing 20 minutes with ease! The mind and body will be relaxed! You will be happier, i’m tellin’ ya!

4. Do things spontaneously.

Do things without thinking too much! Okay, so what I mean is, go talk to someone new today, and make a friend. Go to happy hour, and treat yourself to some delicious buffalo wings and beer! Book a random weekend trip in the next state over. Tell a friend you appreciate them. Reach deep into your soul and bring out the adventurous you. Do things that you have never done before! One of my good friends took a drive down to Miami this past weekend.! The smile on her face when telling me about the trip showed true happiness. So what this all means is don’t overthink things. Thinking to much causes anxiety, and you wont have as much fun! DO NEW THINGS! GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY!……Okay I got a little excited there. But seriously.

5. Spend more time with people who make you happy.

This one may very well be the most important! What will help you instantly is only being around other positive, happy people. They will encourage you to do things you love, and to step outside of your comfort zone. Really think about it, some of the most miserable people we know all hang around each other. Misery loves company, right? Well so does positive energy. Some friends, “acquaintances” may need to be distanced a little for the sake of your happiness. Its a sacrifice you have to be willing to make. But once you’re around the right people, you will gain a more positive mindset.
