Parking in Bruges is going to cost you a lot even if it’s just for a few hours.

In this article, we want to give you all the best parking tips to make it easier to find the best according to your needs.

General parking rules in Bruges

General parking rules in Bruges

As you can see on the map all the streets in Bruges are orange zones. In the orange zones you have to pay (4 hours will cost 9€).

To park in the orange zones, you have to pay every day of the week, even on Sundays, from 9am to 8pm. You are allowed to stay parked for a maximum of 4 hours.

Park at the outskirts of Bruges

If you want to find free parking, you have to get out of the center, in the outskirts of the city.

There a couple of streets where you can park for free and with no time limit as well as several P+R parking.

These are our suggestions for you:

Buiten Gentpoortvest

As you can see on the map, Buiten Gentpoortvest is situated along the ring of Bruges, outside the city.

Walking from there to the Grote Markt, will take you approximately 16 minutes.

You can also take the bus 1 or 11 from stop Brugge Katelijnepoort to Brugge Dijver. The trip takes 11 minutes.

Buiten Boninvest

Buiten Boninvest is also situated along the ring of Bruges, outside the city.

From there you can reach the city center either via Katelijnestraat or via Gentpoortstraat.

  • Via Katelijnestraat:

If you choose to go by foot, its 21 minutes away from the Grote Markt.

By taking bus 11 of 12 from Brugge Katelijnepoort stop to Brugge Dijver, you can get there faster. The trip takes 13 min approximately.

  • Via Gentpoortstraat:

By foot it will take you approximately 20 min and roughly about the same time to get there by bus.

Vaartdijkstraat

Not very far away from the station, you can park your car at Vaartdijkstraat.

You can get to center of Bruges by walking (22min), however the best option is to walk to the Station and take one of the many busses that go to the center by getting to the station.

Walking to the station takes between 5–10 minutes.

From Bruges Station stop you can get one of the busses and get of in Brugge Markt or in Brugge Dijver depending on the bus you took. This takes between about 5 minutes to get there.

P+R Parkings

Go to one of the P+R parkings outside the city if you plan on parking long term.

P & R Steenbrugge

This P+R parking is situated at the end of the Baron Ruzettelaan and counts 185 parking spots.

To get to the center of the city, take bus line number 20 or 21 from Assebroek Park & Ride Steenbrugge stop and get off at Brugge Station. Getting to the station takes approximately 22 minutes.

From Bruges’ station you can either take another bus that will take you to the center of the city either walk (8min).

P & R Jan Breydel

This P+R parking is situated at the Jan Breydelstadium in the Olympialaan and counts 100 parking spots.

Getting to the center of the city from there is quite easy. Take the bus at Sint-Andries Kerk stop and get off at Brugge Station. This will take you 20 minutes.

Here again, you can either take another bus to get to the center of Bruges or walk (8min).

P & R Boogschutterslaan

This is the P+R parking closest to the center of the city.

You will find this parking in the Boogschutterslaan, near the church of Sint-Kruis. There’s another parking lot, just a little bit further at the sportclub Brughia, next to the Studio Hall.

To get to the center of the city, take bus number 16 from Sint-Kruis Mariawende or bus number 6 or 16 from Sint-Kruis Kerk stop and get off at Brugge Stadsschouwburg. This only takes 10 minutes.

Park in Bruges during the day

Some of the public parking are very affordable. Plus: you are very nearby the city center of Bruges.

You can park at Station Brugge parking or at Oesterparking.

Don’t lose your parking ticket, or this will cost you 20€ per day!

Station Bruges Parking

  • Chantrellstraat 42–62, 8000 Brugge

One of the best tips to park at the lowest cost possible is to park at Bruges’ Station Interparkings.

It only costs 3,50€ ! (from the 5th hour)

Plus: Included in the price is the bus ride to the center of the city and back to the parking. (Also valid for the other 3 passengers with you).

Oesterparking

  • Koning Albert 1 laan, 8000 Brugge

The Oesterparking is another great and cheap solution to park near the center of the city.

Plus, its located just behind the train station of Bruges. To get to the center of the city, just walk through the station.

You can either walk to the center, which takes approximately 8 minutes or take one of the many busses.

Parking for a whole day costs 2,5€. However, the bus ride is not included in the ticket.

Other parking options

Bruges counts many other parkings as well (Centrum t’ Zand, Pandreitje, Katelijne, Zilverpand, Biekorf).

The maximum it can cost is 8,70€ (from the 8th hour).

Note that in these parking you are allowed to pay by 15 minutes after the first hour you have parked.

Parking in the evening in Bruges

Parking is free in Bruges as from 8pm until 9am. The only problem is actually finding a parking spot on-street, especially during the weekend!

Another option would be to park your car in a public parking.

Parking in a parking is thus a good option and the prices are really affordable in the evening.

Station Bruges

If you have a Pcard+, parking there will cost you 2,25€ if you stay more than 4h.

The evening fares begin from 7pm to 7am.

Other parking options

In all the other parkings (Centrum t’ Zand, Pandreitje, Katelijne, Zilverpand, Biekorf) parking there will cost you 3€ if you stay more than 3 hours. The evening fares begin from 6pm to 7am/at 6pm until 7am.

Note that for parking Katelijne, special fares exist for student (day and evening classes). Parking will cost you then 1,25€ for 4 hours.

Shop&Go in Bruges

Usefull for the cityzens of Bruges:

If you need to quickly make a purchase, you are allowed to park 15 min for 0,10€. You can park anywhere where parking is allowed in the center of the city.

These parking places are marked on the ground.

Interparking’s Pcard+

If you are using Interparking frequently, you might want to consider asking for a Pcard+.

Some of the advantages of having a Pcard+ are reductions in a selection of parking up to 10% and a reduction to/in evening fares.

You will pay between 3€ and 5€ at the most in the evening in most Interparkings.

Plus: You have the right to park for free for 30 minutes in the P1, P2 and P3 parking at Brussels Zaventem Airport.

Waiting in the queue is a problem of the past with this card linked to your credit card.

Visiting family or friends living in the center of Bruges

There’s a great tip to know regarding parking when you go visit people living in Bruges.

Residents of the center of Bruges are allowed to ask visitors codes. These codes allow you to park for 4 hours for a cost of 1€, from 9am to 8pm.

Such codes can be bought by 10 pieces. Residents can buy at the most 90 codes per year.

When visiting, you can ask your family or friend to use one of these codes.

How does it work ? Send a message to 4411 with your visitors code and your plate number such as “BRG123456789 1ABC123”. (cost: 0,15€ by message send to activate the code)

You can use theses codes in al streets where parking is allowed except for

  • Ezelstraat
  • Geldmuntstraat
  • Gentpoortstraat (except at the height of numbers 62–64)
  • Hoogstraat
  • Katelijnestraat
  • Langestraat
  • Mallebergplaats
  • Mariastraat
  • Noordzandstraat
  • Philipstockstraat
  • Smedenstraat
  • Stationsplein
  • Steenstraat
  • Vlamingstraat (part between Markt and Academiestraat)
  • Zuidzandstraat.
