1. Project In person drop
I choose an institution of agriculture research; company research completed and identifies the names of several people of this institution. I made and print my resume and cover letter and went to a desired institution with equip and practice my elevator pitch. I had a good meeting with manager. Question and answer portion about job and company is main part of this activity.
I think that I was feeling comfortable for the In Person Drop and to get out of my uncomforting zone. I practiced this in front of mirror and when I gained more confidence I decided to actually go for a In Person Drop. For this purpose, I selected Ayub Agriculture Research Institute, Faisalabad for my In Person Drop, and equipped myself with the research about the company and the team of the organization (head of HR, head of recruitment, HR manager, top management, directors, etc.). I also had sent an email to the recruiter of the organization and practiced my elevator pitch which gave me a confidence of having perfect meeting with the management of respective organization.
The learning experience which I gained after In Person Drop in AARI is very good. As Govt. organizations, they have strict security protocols, so I faced little bit difficulty in meeting with the Director General of this organization. As I equipped with weapons which are necessary for an In Person Drop, it helped me a lot to meet with DG after using these skills.
After start meeting, I asked him about application submission for job in his institution, he said that our all process is online to fill the applications by PPSC then take test and interview. He also said that we can’t select candidates without PPSC test and interview but in few projects we can select by departmental permission. I said that I will also apply online but I want to meet with you and by doing this survey. I can know about much about the company its vision mission and which mega projects it is working. It was great experience for me to go for in person drop.
I gave my resume and cover letter to him. He kept my resume and cover letter from me. When he reviews my cover letter he shocked and appreciated me and said that if there will be any vacancy in our institution in any project according to your study then we will call you. Then he said that have you any question?
Then I ask what is a criterion to select a person for your company? He replies me that the criteria changes job to job by Govt. policies. When we take test we focus on job description and study field of the applicants and during interview we focus on his action either he is real and just making fake stories and also on his body language. We see his related experience to field. If he shows positive attitude and confidence during talk then we select him.
I also ask the institution research work in next few years and also ask about new project and request to consider me in project related to my field of study and research work.
