Nina’s Baby Girl Nursery Reveal
NINA’S DREAMY BABY GIRL NURSERY
I may have had only two weeks to prepare before Nina was born, but one thing I was adamant on was making sure she had a finished baby girl nursery to come home to. I wanted the space to be finished being put together so that when we did arrive home, I could focus more on her, snuggling her and rocking her in her room.
My goal for her baby girl nursery was to create and calm space that was chic, classic, and not too overwhelming in color, with touches of mid century modern.
This whole experience and journey to bring Nina home has been so heartwarming. I had some incredible companies come together to help bring my vision for her room to life and be so kind to work quickly too! The world is full of some amazing humans!
Since it had been over five years since I last had a baby, I literally had ZERO baby stuff. I donated it all. We are talking everything. Those two weeks to get everything in check was a mad dash I tell ya, and I am not sure if I got less sleep then or now.
Kolcraft was very generous to gift both the Roscoe Crib, and the Three Drawer Dresser. I was immediately crushing on their Roscoe Crib because it was just the style I was looking for. In addition it is also a 3-in-1 crib that grows with baby! It converts to both a toddler bed and day bed. On the site it says it is “easy assembly” and “built in hardware”. I sort of glanced over that because I have been burned bad by so claimed easy to assemble furniture before. But guys. You will never believe this. Here Beau and I are with all of the tools and even wood glue because we are used to bad furniture and we open the box, start putting it together…and it all snaps into place and takes maybe 5 minutes. All of the sudden our night was free to eat ice cream and watch Netflix! Seriously wish so badly every furniture for the rest of forever would be that easy. The dresser was just as easy, but took like 10 minutes, switch is still amazing! I am so impressed by the quality of both pieces, and sincerely recommend.
I was scrolling through instagram at like 2am and came across HelloBirdieBirdie and her stunning Scandinavian Nursery Mobiles. I then went to her Etsy Shop and spent forever staring at them. For some reason the Swan Mobile pulled me in so hard, and I knew that I must have it for Nina! Nasaa was such a pleasure to work with, and her gorgeous Swan Mobile was the inspiration for her whole baby girl nursery! I also love that when the mobile is outgrown, you can remove the felt pieces and use as ornaments.
Lorena Canal came to the rescue with the perfect accent rug for the nursery. I made the mistake with my last baby getting some random cheap rug, and it got so thrashed and nasty. What I love about Lorena Canal rugs is that they are all machine washable! Yep-you read that correctly. You can pop the whole thing in your washing machine! Life changing! Plus each rug is insanely soft. I not so secretly want a giant one in my room. They have such cute and fun rugs too! I knew I wanted some element of a soft blush pink, and I love how this one has textured stars in it to give it a little something extra special. I also was able to get this darling blanket that has blush pompoms on it. You can see it in the photos above draping the crib. It is so so cute and snuggly!
Is it weird that the wall paper was the very very last item I picked out and ordered? Probably. It took me so long to decide what I wanted, and it was crazy overwhelming. I knew I wanted a floral accent wall, and that it needed to be removable wallpaper. Also didn’t want anything realistic, and was not liking anything super cartoony. Didn’t want so much color, but the plain black and white ones kind screamed too grown up. I must have looked through thousands and showed Beau thousands (he liked all of them, which was wrong and not helpful). Finally after what felt like 20 years found this Vintage Floral Watercolor Wallpaper! This shop was so helpful, I measure the wall and messaged them and they created a custom listing for me so it would be perfectly! The wall turned out better than I could have ever imagined and now I want to wallpaper my whole house.
One other huge thing was a glider that could also fully recline without me having to kick/push the foot rest down super hard. I decided to go with this Babyletto Kiwi Electric Recliner and Swivel Glider. (I bought off of Amazon because even though it was the same price as other sites, it was free shipping and would come sooner!) This thing is amazing. It has a crazy amount of positive reviews, a USB charging station (for those long nights) and is super comfy! Highly recommend. We have the grey color.
I stole this changing basket idea from my friend Lauren Parry. Basket is from Anthro and looks a million times better than a standard changing pad! Plus love that after the diaper days are over it can be used to store toys etc.
When styling Nina’s baby girl nursery I wanted to display books that had personal meaning to both her (hopefully), me, and women in general. We do have a giant children’s book collection in the playroom but I wanted to make sure she had separate books with special meaning in her own room. For example, one of the books is Nina: Jazz Legend and Civl-Rights Activist Nina Simone.
