Skinner’s Loft, 146 Newark Ave
Although it’s on the more expensive side of Jersey City’s restaurants, Skinner’s Loft is definitely a spot to check out for a nice, classy date night. It features a beautiful rooftop deck with an outdoor bar area which is open for dinner. Definitely a great spot to go to on a summer night. Come for their Take 5 happy hour special ($5 beer flights, wine/red sangria, wings, chicken salad, sliders).
Porta, 135 Newark Ave
Porta is loved for it’s gorgeous rooftop deck. From the picture above, you could probably tell that it has a warm, romantic ambiance to it. Definitely a nice spot to check out for a date! Although quite pricey, the dishes here come in large portions and the drinks are tasteful as well (try the Clean Sheets Cocktail sometime).
The Iron Monkey, 97 Greene St
The Iron Monkey is a rooftop bar located by Exchange Place in Jersey City. It’s location makes it a very convenient spot for a quick mid-day drink with some coworkers. Being that the rooftop is small, try not to come during peak hours so you can snag a spot on the lovely deck. If you come between 5–7pm, you’re in luck as the specials are: $2 beers, $3 wine and $4 cocktails.
Zeppelin Hall, 88 Liberty View Dr
Lovely beer garden located in Jersey City. This place is good for big groups, as there is plenty of room for moving around as well as a lot of seating areas. Hit up this bar if you’re looking for a fun night out — this bar features a bunch of TVs in which you and your friends can enjoy a sports game! There’s a wide selection of craft beers. We recommend trying them out during happy hour as all drinks are 1/2 off.
White Star Bar, 230 Brunswick St
White Star Bar is the go-to spot for good burgers and beer around Hamilton Park. There’s an outdoor seating area as well which is great during the summertime. If you come to White Star Bar, expect nothing less but to be greeted by the most friendly, attentive staff. Definitely try the mac & cheese dish here and try out their selection of $5 house wines during happy hour — you’ll thank me later!
Sky Thai, 62 Morris St
Sky Thai is a great spot for happy hour. Their drink and food specials are great deals that you should definitely take advantage of. This restaurant features classic dishes which all taste delicious! And also, if you’re not going for an alcoholic drink ($3 wines during happy hour is our personal fav), then definitely try out their Thai iced tea.
Park & Sixth Gastropub, 247 Washington St
Park and Sixth is a favorite spot in JC for many. Great food, service and drinks in addition to it never being crowded makes this perfect for a chill night out with friends. The restaurant also features an outdoor seating area which is usually quiet — so if you’re looking for a place to have an intimate dinner, then add Park and Sixth to your list. Stop by on Sundays any time after 3pm for some live jazz music as well!

Come by for awesome specials Tues-Sun any time from 3–7pm. You’re bound to have a great time if you come here! The place is a trendy spot, and the ambiance is very relaxed.
LITM, 140 Newark Avenue
LITM is by far one of the artsiest bars in Jersey City. The venue is decently small and intimate, making it a great place if you’re looking to engage in some great conversations with friends or bartenders. By your second visit, bartenders here know your name and your drink of choice (ours is $4 mini martinis during happy hour)! They are super attentive and friendly without a doubt, which explains why it is a favorite bar for locals.
