10. What are we worth?


It’s the reason some of us can’t stop drinking. It’s the reason some of us can’t stop smoking. It’s the reason for addiction.

It’s also the reason why we refresh our notifications every time we post something new. It’s the reason we check our follower count every five minutes after a super fire post.

We enjoy getting likes. We enjoy getting comments. We enjoy getting acknowledged.

But are we only worth that much?

I’d like to think that we’re much more than just a few virtual hearts. That our popularity and personality are defined by our characters and our thoughts, rather than our follower counts and our video views.

We’re not there yet. And maybe we’re not meant to be.

Maybe we need to consider what social media does to us in the eyes of other people but more importantly, in the eyes of ourselves.
