You are right. To each of us the journey’s road is new territory.

There are subtle differences between empathy and sympathy although neither require us to do anything including joining or shaming, but I do believe possessing either one of these does not free us from a humanitarian duty to act in some way if we find ourselves in a position to do so. We must trust our own hearts here.

At the very least, if we truly have achieved empathy we would not cause further harm to those suffering in abnormal conditions you described. Here is the link to part 2 and thank you, again, for reading.
