What Have You Done,ย Omar?

A jagged hole is burning an ever widening and ragged circle through my heart. The edges of it are frayed with fear and heartache. In the wisp of smoke curling upward my hopes momentarily vanish for a new life filled with less hatred, less shame, less persecution. My heart burns with the fires of despair.

Is this what you meant to do,ย Omar?

Did you mean to destroy so many lives and with this heinous act made also to rob me and countless others of precious hope?

Now you are dead along with fifty innocent souls. Your mission will NOT be successful, however.

You were not paying attention, Omar.
You were not paying attention to Brussels.
You were not paying attention to Paris.
You were not paying attention to London.
You were not paying attention to Boston.
You were not paying attention to San Bernadino.
You were not paying attention to Charleston.

You were not paying attention to your true nature,ย Omar.

Hate will never conquer love. The lifespan of hatred is much too short to outlive love. When people like you commit violent acts of hate such as this people like me and millions of others band together in our grief and pain. We love each other and support each other through the devastation. We resist the urge to hate in kind and we are made stronger.

Is this what you meant to do,ย Omar?

Make me stronger?

Did you mean to bind me in compassion and solidarity with my brothers and sisters, gay, straight or in-between the social strata of religious divisions and class or any other nonsense label you chose to separate us with?

Did you mean to force us to remember and face our own common humanity and mortality? So we can do nothing but pull one another closer in this moment to express our love, devotion and support for the grieving families and friends of those you stole from the world.

If this was your mission Omar, you will see it come to pass successfully in days forthwith.

And now that you are gone from the livng plane and returned to your own true nature,Omar, you will be able to see it no other way.
