I think some of the complaints about a lack of touch screen have been overblown (from my own limited experience with Windows the touch screen mouse-based OS combo generally isnt very useful) but theres a ton of great points here.

I think the truth of it is that Apple hasn’t particularly cared about the Mac since about 2010. iOS was the focus and in the past few years they’ve apparently been more focussed on watches, cars etc. The iPhone brings in the money for now and when looking to the future Appple seems more interested in leveraging their design expertise than anything else as they look for the next high margin market.
