Look What You Made Me Do-Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift recently released the music video to her new single “Look What You Made Me Do” and it has been receiving a lot of attention from fans and critics. If you watch the video, you will notice several references towards the Kanye/Kim Kardashian situation. In one scene, Taylor lies in a bath tub filled with expensive diamond jewelry which could easily be a diss at Kim Kardashian’s involvement with a Paris robbery including over 10 million in jewelry. In another part of the video, hundreds of girls are lined up and look very much like Kim’s nudes she took a few years back where she had a black cover up, her hair in a bun and greasy skin. She repeats several times throughout the video “I’ve got a list of names and yours is in red underlined”, a possible reference to Kanye’s name. In one line she says “I don’t trust nobody and nobody trusts me”, showing the implementations the Kanye predicament put on her reputation. In the end all of the old Taylors are lined up with a gold airplane in the background that has the word “reputation” graffitied on it, portraying all of her past career phases. I don’t think this video was as much of a diss video as people have made it out to be, despite all the Kanye/Kim references, I think it is more of a comeback video that was simply triggered by the beef with Kanye. Taylor is finally done trying to please everyone around her and this video makes that crystal clear. The old Taylors are ‘dead’ because the situation with Kanye finally ‘made her do it’, ‘it’ being become a bad ass who no longer listens to the rest of the world’s opinion. I think this new reputation Taylor is giving herself will be the best one yet, and if you don’t agree then watch this video until you actually understand it.

(also, side note: a guy I went to high school with is one of the main dancers in the video!!!)
