Tips to Reduce the Cost of AZ-900 Certification and Get Certified for Free
During the virtual session: “Introduction to Cloud Computing with Azure”, I promised to share how to get the az-900 certification exam for free for students and non-students.
But before we move on, here’s the session replay if you’re interested in learning what cloud computing entails:
To obtain the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification (AZ-900), you must take the certification exam, which requires a fee.
Here are some ways to cut the cost of obtaining the certification and get certified for free:
Student Certification Discount (For students only)
There are 8 certifications you can do for free as a student, one of which is AZ-900 (Microsoft Azure Fundamentals). All you have to do is:
- Create an account on MsLearn
2. Enrol in the learning paths available here for AZ-900.
3. When you are sure you’re well prepared, feel free to schedule your exam here:
4. You’ll be required to create a Pearson Vue account to register for the examination.
Please note that the exam can be written online (from the comfort of your home) or at a Microsoft-approved physical testing center. The list of approved test centers are available on the Pearson Vue website.
5. To claim your 100% exam discount, set your job title to “student”.
6. Verify your student status using either your .edu email address, student ID or other forms of school documentation (admission letter, course form, etc).
7. Sit for the exam and after passing successfully (scoring at least 700/1000), you’ll be awarded the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certificate.
Microsoft Virtual Training Days (For Students and Non-students)
Microsoft Virtual Training Day is an online training program offered by Microsoft that provides free technical training to individuals interested in learning more about Microsoft’s cloud computing technologies.
The most popular training is the Azure Virtual Training Days Fundamentals. The best part is that after you join the free training, you will get a free voucher to take the AZ-900 Exam for free.
The process is pretty much straightforward. All you have to do is:
- Register for the Microsoft Azure Virtual Training Day on any of the currently available dates:
2. Attend the virtual session on the scheduled date.
3. About 3 to 5 days after the event, your voucher offer will be sent to you.
4. Create an account on MsLearn
5. Enrol in the learning paths available here for AZ-900.
6. Log in to your certification dashboard here:
7. Set up your Pearson VUE account using the email you used to register for the virtual training day.
8. Claim your exam discount.
9. Sit for the exam and after passing successfully (scoring at least 700/1000), you’ll be awarded the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certificate.
Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador Access (For students only)
The Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador program is free and open to undergraduate and postgraduate students of all levels in tertiary institutions.
As a student ambassador, you gain free access to Microsoft fundamental certifications.
To get started,
- Register for the student ambassador program here:
2. Upon acceptance to the program, sign in to the Microsoft Learn website using your ambassador email address.
3. Enrol in the learning paths available here for AZ-900.
4. Log in to your certification dashboard.
5. Set up a Pearson VUE account using the same ambassador email.
6. Verify your student status using either your .edu email address, student ID or other forms of school documentation (admission letter, course form, etc).
7. Sit for the exam and after passing successfully (scoring at least 700/1000), you’ll be awarded the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certificate.
Following any of the three methods listed above grants you access to take the AZ-900 certification exam as well as other Microsoft Fundamental Certifications for free.
