What are we looking for?

— One full-time video producer + editor. This person would be creating, directing, producing reviews and other content for our YouTube channel, and ideally is also a talented and thoughtful writer who knows Google and Android better than anyone and can convey their thoughts in written form.

— Contributors who are on top of the Google, Android, and Alphabet news beat who can write quickly, knowledgeably, and with obsessive attention to detail. These contributors would write a variety of content, spanning from news to long-form opinions, tutorials, and reviews.

Video editor and producer

As a video editor and producer for 9to5Google, you will be in charge of growing our YouTube channel and expanding the importance and quality of our video coverage as a whole. This entails scripting, producing, and filming videos, but more importantly it’s a position that offers creative freedom — provided the candidate is also willing to take initiative.

In addition to being a talented video producer and videographer for an audience of almost 30,000 subscribers (and growing!), the ideal candidate should be an ambitious and competent writer who can create long-form written reviews and content to be published alongside their videos.

Availability: This is a full time, 9 to 5 weekdays position. Candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply.

Compensation: Pay will vary by experience, but this is a full-time job and will be compensated as such.

Contributor

Contributors at 9to5Google are given freedom to make the job their own — to pursue writing about things they feel most passionate and knowledgeable in. But there’s also an expectation of self-motivation and drive; you’ll be expected to pitch your own creative story ideas, and execute them in a timely manner.

This position has an emphasis on timeliness, knowledge, wit, and rigorous fact checking, and an ideal candidate will showcase all of these traits in their writing. A qualified candidate will be motivated by the news rush, but can also take a step back to think deeply about topics from a wider scope.

Availability: This is a part time position, but there are ample opportunities to contribute as much as you’re available. Candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply.

Compensation: Pay will vary by experience, but compensation for this typically non-salaried position scales based on work and time contributed.

Broad requirements

— Extensive knowledge in Alphabet, Google, Android, and related topics.

— Openness to embracing established editorial standards and feedback.

— Fluency with the English language.

— Some previous experience in related fields is a must.
