Good points pie! In this case I think an Android upgrade is the bestest thing for you. We can talk elsewhere about how that might be done, but for this audience, I wanted to show how this granular permissions feature works.
First I open app info:
Next, I click on permissions:
And last, I get to pick what Slack can do:
This is one of those features that justify an upgrade to me.
