Also, block out the noise and stop chasing the shiny bouncing balls that attract and distract: flash offices, the ego trips, the parties, the awards, the business class flights, the flash suits, the shiny car.
Focus on what will push the needle, ie, spend your energy on working out how and why whatever you do is (a) valuable and (b) unique and then do everything in your power to make those things known to those who need to know and keep true to that. Don’t skimp here, go all in and back yourself. Don’t expect anyone else to do it for you. It generally means doing less “stuff”, but the “stuff” you do is actually productive and stoking a fire, rather than being wasted on whim.
Working smarter is the shortcut.
