To those picking on swearing (and I know Jon can defend himself but this is just a more general observation):
Firstly, this is not Drucker. This is about as opposite as you can get to the delivery style you would expect in a boardroom, textbook or a lecture theatre. It’s online, by someone who just sat down and started writing about his interests one day, and found people liked and responded to what he wrote. So he kept writing, honing his craft and doing the work. I’d argue that it takes all types: sometimes you need to hear things straight up, other times, traditional and formal business writing is just the ticket. Horses for courses.
Secondly, would you prefer someone pretend this is not how they talk, think and act, if this is how they would talk, think and act if you were to meet them face to face?
Wouldn’t you want the two personalities — online and offline — to be in sync?
If you were reading this (without swear words) and thought “Hmm, this guy is very smart — what a thinker,” and then you met him in person and he swore like a pirate but made really intelligent points, would you then say “Hmm, this guy is not very smart — what a fool,” just because of the swearing?
Lastly, replace swearing with tattoos, and ask yourself if you feel like you could be being a bit judgmental.
Which is your right, of course.
But it also doesn’t make you right.
