In Pakistan getting a job is very difficult as compared to other developed countries. As Pakistan is in 6th number in the world population. Pakistan economy is not stable and changing with the passage of time. Every student desires to get a job according to him/her passion. But due to the high competition, it's not possible for everyone to achieve it. I want to express to you some important tips that help you to distinguish yourself from the rest of the crowd.

In Person Resume drop is an example of doing extra mile for getting a job. Now a day, every company has its own website and we can easily apply online for that job. But HR receives thousands of application so scrutinizing candidates is a tough procedure for them. In-Person, drop helps you to show your passion and interest for a company. It will give you a chance to meet HR in person and present your elevator pitch to them.

I personally have the experience of dropping in-person resume to an IER department of Punjab University. When I go to the department, first I met with the receptionist. I asked her that I am here to meet with HR for just 2 minutes. She said we have an online procedure for job applications. I said that I have already applied online and now I am here to show my passion to your company. So, after 5 minutes discussion. She said you have to wait for HR. So I wait for HR for three hours and after that, I met with HR.

First of all, HR didn’t pay attention towards me. She asks me you have to apply online. I clarify that I had already applied online. Then I start my Elevator Pitch. She didn’t want to list that pitch. I request her to just give me one minute to express myself and my accomplishments. I start my pitch and finish it in 35 seconds. After that, she took my resume and said we will shortlist the candidates and will inform you by email. I show gratitude to her and come back home. On the same day, I write gratitude email to her for this short interview. Overall it was a good experience for me.

After two days, HR calls me and invite me for an interview.

I found some difficulties while doing this task. First of all, we have to spend a lot of time traveling and gratitude email. Second, when we go to the company we have to wait for HR to meet him in person. Thirdly the department uses online applications to filter out relevant candidates, so in some companies, this activity is not helpful.

But we can overcome these issues. The first issue is the time. As we know that getting something requires extra mile and hard work. So we just have to passionate about the company. The second issue can resolve by just email HR one day before going in person to the company. Request HR that I want to meet you in person for just 5 minutes. You can schedule the time. Thirdly for those companies that use filter options, we have to cover all Job Description skills in our resume. Moreover, this in person session helps HR to remember you and increase the selection chances.

Finally, I want to say that if you want to get something you have to sacrifice something.
