Techniques Required for Perfect Furniture Placement

Furniture placement has much to do in making or breaking the image of your house interior. Therefore, you must take the advice of a professional interior designer who provides you best options while keeping all the necessary factors in view.

Although, interior decoration of a house includes everything from paint to drapery but the greatest part of it is ‘furniture placement’. Furniture plays a significant role in giving a specific feel to an area or you can say that it is selected while keeping the usage, the interior look, available space and off-course the latest trends in view.
This is the reason that for an ideal furniture placement, most of the homeowners take the services of a professional interior designer in Pakistan. Let’s get into some of the basic techniques using which you can arrange furniture in an ideal way.

1. Defining a Focal Point

Although, there are no hard and fast rules but for the perfect placement of furniture you have to define a focal point within an area. For instance, it could be television, fireplace, a window or any outside view. You have to select the furniture accordingly by following the directions. Instead of arranging furniture against that focal point, go for the placement that faces it. For instance, if it is your television, place the furniture right in front of it. Then it is up to the space available; for instance you can go for a U-Shape placement, L-Shape furniture placement or simple linear arrangement.

2. Maintain Symmetry

Maintaining symmetry is necessary to keep the area clutter-free. Improper or asymmetrical arrangement not only disrupts the passageway but also makes the look of a room or zone more casual.

3. Keep the Pathway Clear

Properly arranged furniture provides you clear pathway so that you could easily walk around. Therefore, you have to keep the direction, the pathway, the size of the furniture and various other things in view.

4. Avoid Against the Wall Arrangement

Against the wall arrangement gives boring feeling to an area because the typical placement shows no creativity or art. Moreover, it also shows as you have limited space available to arrange your furniture. Therefore, best alignment is to place the furniture while keeping the easy passage way around all the sides. However, in case of space availability issue, you can go for exceptions.

5. Consider the Usage

What is the usage of area you are going to place furniture in? Is this a dining room, living room, kitchen or your bedroom? You have to keep the usage of the area as it allows you to arrange the furniture items accordingly. For instance, in a dining room, mostly the furniture is arranged in the center of an area, where chairs face each other with a table between them. On the other hand, in a living room, you have to follow totally different furniture placement rules.

6. Consider the Traffic Flow

Another most important thing is the traffic flow, you have to see which openings or doors are connected to the area you are placing furniture in. For instance, if your dining room is connected with the living, then don’t block the passage or link between the two areas.
Ideally placed furniture not only enhances the esthetics of your interior but it also creates a statement about your taste. Therefore, to avoid discrepancies you can hire the services of a professional interior designer in Lahores that it could become easier to make your home ideal equally from inside as well as outside.
